Capacity modules improve the energy balance in applications with rapidly successive machining cycles such as rollfeeds or cross-cutting equipment. Connected to the DC-bus, the capacity module works as temporary power storage and reduces loss of heat in the control cabinet due to relief of the brake resistor. During a power failure, the amount of stored energy enables a controlled return motion. This protects workpiece and tool for gear cutting machines, for example.
The KLC03 capacity module is used to prevent peak loads on the mains side. In addition, it enables energy to be stored for retraction movements after a power failure and allows peak power to be increased within the DC bus.
